Ascension Ministries receives financial and other donations according to the biblical principle that God’s people are to provide for the physical needs of those in fulltime ministry. The foundation of this principle comes from God’s Torah that tells us to "Be careful that you do not forsake the Levite as long as you live in your land" (Deut. 12:19 ^NAS).

The Wycliffe Bible Commentary explains this principle as "The one who is taught in the word shares his material goods with the one who teaches him. In this way he participates in the work of the Lord. This is the divine plan."
